Personal Protective Equipment Policy

All employees have the responsibility to perform their duties in a manner which ensures their own safety and that of others and to co-operate with any safety requirement in the workplace.

Head Protection

Approved safety head gear must be worn at all times by employees (and visitors) on all construction and building work sites where they are designated head gear work places. All employees are responsible for taking the appropriate positive steps for ensuring that they comply with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act in regard to the wearing of safety head gear in all other areas where there is a likely risk of being struck on the head by a moving or stationary object.

Safety Footwear

Bare feet, sandals, gym shoes, thongs, or any other soft soled shoes are not acceptable. Workers not wearing safety footwear will not be permitted to commence work. Safety boots with steel caps and stout deep tread soles are required for general wear around site (this includes any work around the yard). Scaffolders, riggers and approved special trades are permitted to wear special lightweight steel cap footwear when working aloft only.

High-Visibility and UV Protective work-wear.

All employees are supplied with various types of Day/Night high-visibility clothing (safety vests, shirts, overalls etc.) and are required to carry and wear these items as required or instructed. 

Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection and Safety harnesses

The wearing of these items depends on task specific circumstances, these items must be worn where sign posted and on various work sites and/or under direction of the Management or Supervisor.

General P.P.E

Blayney Cranes inducted employees are issued with an appropriate P.P.E kit and a kit-bag for storage and transport of such items, each employee is required to carry these items and have access to the appropriate P.P.E needed at any time.

Non Compliance: If an individual, who has been issued with the required Personal protective equipment, is found not to be wearing the required safety apparel in its designed manner, He/She may be required to show why a breech of this policy shall not result in the individual being removed from the site by their employer.
